MAKE A RAIN BARREL

The public is invited to create a rain barrel in the New Castle-Henry County Public Library auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13. According to Christy Ragle of the library staff, "there is no cost to attend, thanks to a partnership with the Three Rivers Waste Management District." It is requested, however, that people sign up in advance by visiting the library's calendar link at www.nchcpl.org or by calling Elissa at 529-0362, ext. 310. Registering ensures that the library will have plenty of supplies on hand for folks to make their own barrels. Provided by New Castle-Henry County Public Library

GRANDMA'S HOME COOKIN'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Some of life's sweetest memories have been made in the kitchens of grandmothers all across the country. Leaning over the countertop, we've watched her add the flour, stir that perfect pot of goodness, and create culinary magic-all without using a measuring cup or a written recipe. The new cookbook, At My Grandmother's Table: Heartwarming Stories & Cherished Recipes from the South, (Nelson Books, $24.99) pays homage to these sentimental memories with the flavors that will take readers back to that familiar and comforting place they loved as children.
