Willa Dene Filson, 93, former New Castle resident, residing in Indianapolis, passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013.
She was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Kokomo, a daughter of the late Herman Noel and Alta Peters Lorts.
She was a graduate of Southside High School in Ft. Wayne. Mrs. Filson attended the First Christian Church in New Castle and the Second Reformed Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. She was very involved with her family's activities and loved sharing time with her family and friends. She enjoyed reading, painting, and traveling. Mrs. Filson was a homemaker and also had worked in retail sales.
Left to cherish her loving memory include: three sons, G. David Filson of Pleasanton, Calif., Jerry Filson (wife Susan) of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dean Filson (wife Pamela) of Indianapolis; nine grandchildren, Shannon Filson, Kristi Carmichael, Kevin Filson, Byron Filson, Nigel Filson, Eric Filson (wife Alissa), Carrie Filson, Angela Filson, Laurie Filson; and four great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George W. Filson, and one infant sister, Naomi Lorts.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m.. Wednesday Feb. 13, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home in New Castle. Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 13, at Macer-Hall Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at New Lisbon Cemetery.
