A North Carolina man allegedly involved in an attempted armed robbery at the New Lisbon Travel Plaza remained behind bars Thursday afternoon.

Austin Hagee, 20, Fayetteville, North Carolina, was arrested Wednesday evening, according to a Henry County media release.

The incident began around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday when deputies from the Henry County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of an attempted armed robbery at the travel plaza, 5884 S. Wilbur Wright Road. Law enforcement located the vehicle Hagee was traveling in and a foot pursuit began, the release stated.

Assisting in the pursuit were members of the New Castle Police Department, Indiana State Police, Department of Natural Resources conservation officers and the Henry County SWAT Team.

Hagee, as well as a juvenile suspect, were apprehended by a police K-9 and taken into custody.

Hagee was wanted on a warrant from North Carolina and the vehicle he was using was reported stolen from North Carolina as well, the media release indicated.

Additional charges for the local incident could be forthcoming following a review by the Henry County Prosecutor’s Office.

Thursday afternoon, Hagee was being held without bond at Henry County Jail.
