OVER THE RAINBOW

“The Real Wizard of Oz: The Life and Stories of L. Frank Baum, Creator of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz,” was presented Saturday afternoon at The Guyer Opera House in Lewisville. The one-man show, put on by actor, playwright, storyteller and retired school teacher Raymond Wohl, told Baum’s autobiography. Friday evening, Wohl performed at a local nursing home, doing a solo sing-a-long trunk show featuring characters and songs from the movie “The Wizard of Oz.” Wohl is pictured with Jameson McGrew, left, and Evan McGrew, right. Jameson McGrew remembers seeing the movie “The Wizard of Oz” at the Castle Theatre in New Castle when he was just 9 years old. The movie premiered in 1939. Jameson McGrew is also an avid collector of Baum’s work and has all 14 Oz books written.
