Five arrested Wednesday on drug charges

An early-morning traffic stop. An afternoon search warrant. Five in jail.

Local drug task force agents were busy Wednesday.

New Castle police officers started the day by arresting three people for alleged meth possession around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday at the intersection of I Avenue and S. 22nd Street.

According to the police report, a New Castle officer initiated the traffic stop because of a broken headlight.

All three people in the vehicle allegedly had drugs on them.

Billy Wilson, 24, was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine, possession of a syringe and possession of marijuana.

Jessica Norris, 40, was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of a controlled substance.

Randi Coomer, 30, was preliminarily charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Later that day, Henry County Area Drug Task Force agents served a drug search warrant at Norris’s New Castle home and arrested two Anderson men.

While searching the home, ADTF agents reportedly found individual baggies, digital scales, syringes, drug paraphernalia and nearly 10 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

William V. Macon, 41, was arrested on preliminary charges of Level 5 felony dealing methamphetamine, Level 6 felonies maintaining a common nuisance and unlawful possession of a syringe and Class C misdemeanor possess of paraphernalia.

Russell J. McGinnis, 27, was arrested on a preliminary charge of Class A misdemeanor visiting a common nuisance.

Norris, who was still in custody in Henry County Jail, was given the additional preliminary charges of Level 5 felony dealing methamphetamine, Level 6 felonies maintaining a common nuisance and unlawful possession of a syringe and Class C misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.

The Henry County ADTF were assisted by the New Castle Police Department, Henry County Sheriff’s Department, Henry County SWAT and the Henry County Prosecutor’s Office.
