Paintout at Arts Park Saturday

By TRAVIS WEIK - tweik@thecouriertimes.com

The Art Association of Henry County, along with the Indiana Plein Air Painters, are hosting the seventh annual Paintout this weekend.

The open-air event starts at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 11 in the Arts Park.

AAHC Executive Director Manny Mena said the event is free to all community members who enjoys painting outside.

Mena said weathermen are calling for any rain to hold off until the afternoon, when the outdoor painters will be wrapping up.

A little precipitation in the past hasn’t stopped the Paintout, though.

The artists just move under the Pavilion and keep on capturing nature at work.

Call the Art Association at 529-2634 to register. Mena said guest artists can register through Saturday.

The Art Association is also preparing for the annual Mary Morris Summer Art Days 2019 in June.

Summer Art Days introduces young artists to different media and challenges them all to focus on one theme.

This year’s Mary Morris Summer Art Days camp will focus on the theme “Outer Space.”

Instructors Erica Bishop, Austin Carter, Angela Dishman, Janet McGuire and Stacey Maupin Torres will guide young artists to develop their own artistic creations through planned projects.

Students will create art utilizing media and methods experienced through pottery, painting, design, drawing, 3D project elements and more.
