Gone but always remembered

The William O. Frazier Post 333 American Legion of Hagerstown will conduct Memorial Day services at nine area cemeteries Monday, May 27 to honor those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States.

The public is invited to attend these patriotic services.

The service schedule is as follows: 7:30 a.m., Chicago Corner Church; 8 a.m., Mooreland Cemetery; 8:35 a.m., Brick Church Cemetery; 9 a.m., Jacksonburg Cemetery; 9:35 a.m., Salem Church Cemetery; 10 a.m., Greens Fork Cemetery; 10:50 a.m., Sugar Grove Cemetery; 11:15 a.m., West River Friends Cemetery; and 11:45 a.m., West Lawn Cemetery Hagerstown.

The William O. Frazier Post is also taking this opportunity to remind people to examine their personal American flags and replace any that are tattered.

The New Castle-Henry County Chamber of Commerce is also hosting a Memorial Day ceremony at 9 a.m. May 27 on the courthouse lawn.

Veterans are invited to begin taking seats at 8:45 a.m.

Chamber Executive Director Shaun DuFault said there is no need to RSVP. Veterans of every era are welcome to be a part of the event.

“We’re here to remember and honor you,” DuFault said.

The NC-HC Chamber Memorial Day ceremony will be followed at 10 a.m. by a community parade through downtown New Castle.
