Hope Initiative meeting Thursday

Courier-Times Staff Report

The HOPE Initiative is inviting community members to the monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 13, in the HOPE Building in New Castle.

This Thursday’s HOPE Initiative meeting is devoted to two items: Updates on Stellar Communities, the EXPO Center, and the Smith Building; and, Discussion on LiVE, the community’s Substance Disease Coalition, to discuss site needs as well as programming.

HOPE members and interested community members will will hear the latest on the Henry County EXPO Building process and will discuss what is being hoped for in the Stellar project: Infrastructure, the arts, health and safety, housing, marketing, tourism, economic development, education, projects.

While the region addresses several areas that make residents safer (infrastructure and construction and roads), leaders and volunteers must juggle the absolute needs of staying faithful in the struggle with substance disease that impacts everyone here.

The LiVE Coalition discussion hopes to give greater hope to Henry County’s children and young people so that the playing field they inherit is as equitable as possible.

People attending the meeting should plan for two hours in order to learn what is going on in critical areas of the region and where they fit in.

The HOPE Initiative meets at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the HOPE Building, 1426 Broad St., New Castle. Parking and a rear entrance are available on Fleming Street.
