Former New Castle residentsDarryl and Linda Johnson with their entire extended family, celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Marco Island, Florida.

New Castle High School sweethearts Darryl Johnson (Class of 1965) and Linda Redd (Class of 1967) celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with their entire family of 18 on beautiful Marco Island, Florida where Darryl and Linda now reside.

What a week it was on Marco Island sharing stories, enjoying the sunshine and making many new memories.

It was a GREAT family celebration with their oldest son Craig from Fishers, Indiana, Maggie Brown from Zionsville, Indiana, Amy from Ashland, Oregon and Matt from Austin, Texas, plus spouses and nine grandchildren.

Linda (Redd) Johnson is the daughter of Herman and Pansy Redd who owned Herman J Redd Chrysler-Plymouth on east Broad Street for many years. Linda is a retired pastor where she served at the Zionsville United Methodist Church and the United Church and Wesley United Methodist church, both on Marco Island, Florida. Linda now enjoys spending her time with family and friends, reading and traveling.

Darryl’s father, Robert D. Johnson, was a career employee of the U.S. Postal Service and his mother, Virginia, served 35 years as a volunteer at the Henry County Hospital.

Darryl spent his 32-year career working for Elanco, the animal health division of Eli Lilly where he had the opportunity to visit over 50 countries. He and Linda spent several years living in Bangkok, Thailand and Johannesburg, South Africa. Today Darryl enjoys tennis, boating, time with family and friends and volunteering for Collier-Lee County Honor Flight in Florida. He is also an avid Purdue Boilermaker and true-blue supporter of the Indianapolis Colts.
