New Castle Basketball Shooting Camp

The New Castle High School boys basketball program will be conducting a basketball shooting camp for boys and girls entering the third through the sixth grades this coming school year from Monday, July 15 through Wednesday, July 17 in the NCHS North Gym.

Individuals in grades three and four will have camp from noon to 1:30 pm., and those entering grades five and six will have their camp from 1:30 to 3 p.m. those three days.

The camp will feature detailed shooting instruction such as spot up catch & shoot, shooting off the cut, and shooting off the dribble. Shooting drills and shooting competitions also will be held and there will be handouts distributed. The goal is for campers to work toward becoming a quick and efficient shooter.

NCHS boys varsity Head Coach Daniel Cox is the director of the camp. The cost of the camp is $20 per camper, and the sign-up and payment will be on the first day of camp (July 15). Checks should be made payable to New Castle High School.

Westminster Hosting Annual Golf Outing

Westminster Community Center is a “life pantry.” Beyond food and clothing, they provide important answers and connections, helping people discover the joy of generosity.

The Center is hosting its first annual golf outing. Participants can choose to form a team of four and play a round of golf or simply attend to support Westminster Community Center. Additionally, there are opportunities for corporate sponsorship and hole sponsors. The golf outing will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, at Memorial Park in New Castle.

Along with golf, there will be a silent auction as well as contests such as an award for the longest drive. Registered teams will receive lunch and snacks, a shirt, and access to a golf cart. Golf clubs will not be provided. Registration is capped at 18 teams/72 players.

New Castle Trojan Volleyball Camp

NCHS Volleyball Camp is Monday, July 15 and Tuesday, July 16 at New Castle Fieldhouse.

Director of the camp is NCHS varsity volleyball head Coach Sarah Roush, and she will be assisted by the varsity coaching staff and high school players.

Cost of the camp is $40 per individual and the fee plus the registration form can be brought to the first day of camp. The form can also be e-mailed to this address: sarah@munciana.com

The camp will meet from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on those two days and is open to those entering third-through-eighth grades in the upcoming school year.

There also will be another camp for first through sixth graders Saturday, Aug. 24 from 10-11:30 a.m. and 12:30-2 p.m.

Trojan Youth Football Camp

NCHS will be holding its Trojan Youth Football Camp Monday, July 22 through Thursday, July 25 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at Neal Field.

The camp is open to all individuals entering the third through the eighth grades. NCHS varsity football coach Kyle York is in charge of the camp, and he will be assisted by his coaching staff and high school players.

The cost of the camp, which includes a camp T-shirt, is $20 per individual. Campers can pre-register online at NCTYFL.com. Registration also will take place the first day of camp at the north entrance of Neal Field.
