TCC giving away backpacks full of supplies: TCC, 111 S. Memorial Drive, 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, July 21 at the store. The store is donating up to 200 backpacks filled with pencils, paper, pencil box, folders, glue and more. Backpacks are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

South Memorial Drive Church of God giveaway: 336 new pairs of athletic shoes and the same number of socks to school-age children ages K-12 at 10:30 a.m. until they are gone one day, Saturday, July 27 in Lowe Park. Footwear will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis and will go fast. Folks can lineup as early as 10 a.m. At 10:30 a.m. pizza and bottled water will be handed out.

First Presbyterian to host singer Leah Crane: Riley Hospital for Children social worker Leah Crane will sing at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, July 28 at First Presbyterian Church in New Castle. The public is invited to attend. Crane sang at the recent funeral for longtime Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar. She has been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall.
