NCMS Cross Country Call Out

Friday, Aug. 9, will be the opportunity for any New Castle Middle School sixth, seventh, or eighth grade student to sign up for the cross country team.

Students will meet right after school in the Middle School cafeteria and will be given information regarding practice times, meet schedule, and other matters. Those who have their athletic physical on file at the NCMS will be allowed to practice following the meeting and sign-up.

The meeting is expected to end at approximately 3:30 p.m., at which time those without physical exams on file are dismissed. The practice will end at 5 p.m.

Any student is welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of present conditioning or reason for joining. Whether you enjoy running, want to condition for another sport, want to improve your health, and/or want to be a part of a team (and great group), this is the opportunity. The team wants you there. If unable to attend the call out, please contact Coach Dye or Coach Fenstermacher.

Informational packets will be in the school offices for those unable to attend the call out meeting. Physicals must be on file before one can practice.

Ten practices are necessary before one may participate in the meets.

Westminster to host annual golf outing

Westminster Community Center is a “life pantry.” Beyond food and clothing, it provides important answers and connections, helping people discover the joy of generosity.

The center is hosting its first golf outing. Participants can choose to form a team of four and play a round of golf or simply attend to support Westminster Community Center.

Additionally, there are opportunities for corporate sponsorship and hole sponsors.

The golf outing is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, at Memorial Park in New Castle.

Along with golf, there will be a silent auction as well as contests such as an award for the longest drive. Registered teams will receive lunch and snacks, a shirt, and access to a golf cart. Golf clubs will not be provided. Registration is capped at 18 teams/72 players.

For information call Thomas Oakes at 765-524-0695 or visit the Westminster Community Center Facebook page.
