MOORELAND FRIENDS' BEANS

A 41-year tradition at the Mooreland Free Fair is the food for sale by the Mooreland Friends Church in the Antique Pavilion. Church members serve up homemade ham and beans, cornbread, biscuits and gravy, Jack’s Donuts and beverages. All proceeds from the sales go to support church missions. The secret recipe for the ham and beansbelongs to Steven Cross who Friends say has had the recipe for at least 30 years. Serving fairgoers are, from left, Tom Smedley, Ross Smedley, Katherine Hoots and Pat Hicks.
