The Henry County Historical Society Musuem is hosting a one-day genealogy seminar from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17.

The event is $20, which includes all handouts and a light lunch and drinks. The seminar is free to members of the Henry County Genealogy Alliance (HCGA).

Four presentations are planned to help people begin their personal genealogical journey. 

“Genealogy 101” by Karen Good. Good is a long-time member of the Delaware County Historical Society and chairs Ancestor Hunters in Muncie. She has many tips and tricks to share that she’s learned through her many years of being a genealogist.

“Early Indiana Land Records” by John Barr. Barr owns Old Northwest Genealogy in Indianapolis. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, as well as presiding over the Indiana Chapter; a member of the Ohio Genealogical Society; and a member of the Society of Families of the Old Northwest Territory.

“Basic Genetic Genealogy” by Steven Frank. Frank is a member of the Central Indiana DNA Interest Group out of Indianapolis (CIDIG). He is an attorney and professional genetic genealogist.

“When & Why to Hire a Professional Genealogist” by Kaye Ford, Henry County Historical Society executive director.
