Tiger girls golf fourth at Greensburg Invitational

The Hagertown High School girls golf team poses recently in front of its bus before an out-of-town meet. The Tigers already have had four meets during the first week of the regular season, including a fourth-place tie at Saturday’s 17-team Greensburg Invitational, and travel to Wapahani for a meet today.


GREENSBURG — The Hagerstown High School girls golf team had a busy first week of the 2019 regular season with an meets last Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and and winding up with Saturday’s Greensburg Invitational at Greensburg Country Club.

Seventeen teams were at Greensburg for the 18-hole event and the Tiger girls varsity team tied for fourth place with a score of 398.

Sierra Searcy led the Hagerstown varsity by carding a 98. Other scores for the Tigers were Shay Doerstler 100, Stefani Burns 100, Madison Phelps 100, and Morgan Rector 101.

The Hagerstown junior varsity team finished with a 462. Those Tiger individual scores also were tightly-bunched as Paige Stuart had a 113, Sydney Rector 116, Sophia Mull 116, and Whitlee Garrison 117. Grace Richards withdrew due to injury and did not finish the course.

Hagerstown plays at Wapahani today.
