Day of Caring is Sept. 6

Courier-Times Staff Report

On the first Friday of September, volunteers from around Henry County come together to serve partnering organizations.

The 2019 Henry County Day of Caring is Sept. 6. United Way of Henry and Delaware Counties is collaborating with the Hope Initiative and the Day of Caring Committee for this year’s event.

United Way will match participating organizations with motivated volunteers from local businesses, schools, and service groups who dedicate their time and effort to improve our community.

Although volunteers might be working on projects not directly related to the organization’s mission, Day of Caring is a unique opportunity to learn about the important work done by groups in our community, while helping them cross some things off of their “to-do” list.

Day of Caring Volunteers can expect to:

• Learn about the mission and work of the host organization, and the needs of our community.

• Have a great time with others while helping out a deserving organization.

• Have a great team-building experience.

Service Project Examples

Day of Caring projects in the past have included: indoor/outdoor painting, office cleaning, sorting donations, neighborhood cleanups, serving meals, working with the elderly, landscaping/lawn work, assembling informational packets, etc.
