Melvin Wallace Hughes

Melvin Wallace Hughes, 77, passed away September 3, 2019 at Glen Oaks Healthcare Campus. He was born September 23, 1941 in New Castle, IN to the late Sherman and Elsie (Allee) Hughes.

Melvin was the owner of Hughes Carpets in Knightstown, IN and retired from Modernfold Industries, New Castle.

He was preceded in death by his wife of forty years, Glenda (Kline) Hughes in 1999 and his brother, Rev Marvin Hughes, Evansville, IN.

Melvin is survived by one son, Tony (Becky) Hughes of Greensboro, IN and two daughters Tamara (Bob) Bruning of Columbus, NC and Tanya McDonald of Kennard, IN. He is survived by five grandchildren; Tony Hughes, Jr, Daryl Ann Dunigan, John Dunigan, Trent McDonald and Tori McDonald and two great-grandchildren, Tyler Hughes and Adley Ellinger.

Melvin will be remembered as a kind, loving father, grandfather and friend. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. He always looked for opportunities to make someone laugh or smile.

Burial will be at Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown. A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his Celebration of Life on Becky Bailey-Hughes’ Facebook page.
