William L. Oxley

William L. Oxley, age 72, a resident of Terre Haute, Indiana and formerly of New Castle, passed away on Sunday November 3, 2019 at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.

He was born February 20, 1947 in New Castle and was a 1965 graduate of Walter P. Chrysler High School.

After graduation he joined the United States Air Force and served a tour in Vietnam. He also was a member of the Indiana Air National Guard from 1982-2002. He also worked several years for the Civil Service.

He loved family activities, fishing and playing frisbee. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to scuba dive when he lived in Hawaii while serving in the Air Force.

Left to cherish his loving memory include his two sons: William J Oxley and his wife Penny of Terre Haute and Robert S Oxley and his wife Lori of New Castle; two grandsons: Gavin and Daniel Oxley of New Castle; his sister Gail Byers and her husband Richard of New Castle, his half-sister Carolyn Duggins and her husband Ben of Albuquerque New Mexico, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father Herman L Oxley, his mother Wilma Oxley Batt, two brothers Tim and Herman R Oxley.

Family and friends may call from 11a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday November 8, 2019 at Macer Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday November 8, 2019 at Macer Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Service with Pastor Dustin Walters officiating.

Military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the VFW and American Legion.

Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery.
