New partners announced for WEC program

The New Castle Career Center is pleased to announce that Markleville Pallet/Fredricks Inc, Henry County Community Foundation, Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service, The HR Connection and ERA Integrity Real Estate have all signed agreements to partner with the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate Program.

The Work Ethic Certificate (WEC) includes five subjective measures – persistence, respectfulness, initiative, dependability and efficiency – which will require three teachers each to sign stating that a student has met these requirements.

Students must also complete six hours of community service, have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and meet all graduation requirements, have an attendance rate of 98 percent and one or fewer discipline referrals for the year.

The new business partners have agreed to commit their support to the WEC program and to the students by offering incentives to graduates earning the certificate. Some of the partners have also provided support towards mid-year rewards for students.

For more information on the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate, contact program manager Todd York at the New Castle Career Center, 765-593-6680.
