Raiders romp past Cowan in baseball

MIDDLETOWN — The Shenandoah High School baseball team improved to 2-0 in the Mid-Eastern Conference and 4-2 overall with a 12-2 victory in six innings over visiting Cowan Wednesday evening.

Raider starting pitcher Cy Stanley went the distance on the mound for the victory, hurling six innings and giving up the two runs on three hits and four walks while striking out seven Blackhawk batters.

Shenandoah junior Landon Freestone went 4-for-5 from the plate, had a double, and scored two runs and had two RBI. Sophomore Coleson White was 3-for-4, hit a double, and had a pair of runs and RBI apiece. Kyle Randolph was 2-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored, Gavin Patrick was 2-for-4 and scored three times, Lucas Wuestefeld was 2-for-5, including a triple, had four RBI and scored twice, and Dylan Frost had two hits, including a double and had an RBI.

Cowan’s Colin Kear absorbed the loss on the mound for the visiting Blackhawks, giving up the 12 runs (seven earned) on 17 hits, walking one, and striking out four in 5 2/3 innings of work.
