Softball

Knightstown 10, Winchester 4

The Panthers hosted Tri-Eastern Conference foe Winchester Saturday for Senior Day and defeated the Golden Falcons 10-4.

All five Knightstown seniors started and all had at least one hit. Courtney Carlton had two doubles and three RBI, Dharma Holder and Allyson Hauk had two singles apiece, and Makenna Leisure and Andi Skinner each recorded a single.

Skinner also instigated a double play in the fifth inning, catching a fly ball and firing the ball to second base to double up the runner that got too far off the bag.

“These five seniors have combined for 19 years with the program, Knightstown Coach Bret Mann stated, “and we thank them for their dedication and commitment for these four years. It was awesome to see them all contribute to the victory as well.”

Sidney Vise pitched the first five innings for the victory and Carlton shut the door the last two innings.

Vise got the scoring started by lacing the first pitch she saw over the centerfield fence in the bottom of the first inning. The Panthers never would relinquish the lead, but Winchester kept it close all game. Vise added a double and Jess Butler also had two hits.

The win was the Lady Panthers’ fifth in a row, and they face a very stout six games this week, which started by hosting Class A No. 1 Tri Monday.
