Library offering free computer classes

New Castle-Henry County Public Library is offering a basic computer class to teach the community the basics of connecting to and using the internet. 

Two sessions of the same class are available: 10 a.m. Thursday and 6 p.m. June 20. Both sessions will be in the library’s computer training lab, located on the upper level. Computers will be provided, but participants may also bring their own devices.

The free class is for ages 18 and up and registration is required. To register, call Janet at 765-529-0362, ext. 1309.

New Castle School Board meets Thursday

The New Castle School Board will meet in executive session at 11:15 a.m. Thursday at the community education center, 322 Elliott Ave., New Castle. A special session will follow at Noon in the same location.

Fieldhouse closed to walkers for the summer

Community walkers will not be able to use the concourse around the New Castle Fieldhouse this summer, New Castle Athletic Director Shane Osting announced this week. The decision was made with consideration for public safety, Osting explained. The Fieldhouse will be undergoing some installation projects over the next two months and there will not be school staff on-hand to provide public supervision.

Food giveaway is Friday

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana will provide food for families in need at the monthly Second Harvest Tailgate Program from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, June 15 at the First Baptist Church located at 709 S. Memorial Dr. in New Castle. The distribution is while supplies last, and there is a limit of three families per vehicle.
