12 local players in Friday's IFHOF East/West Classic

Twelve local high school senior football players, along with four just outside the local area, will compete for the East during Friday’s Indiana Football Hall of Fame East/West Classic at Anderson High School. Kickoff is 7 p.m.

All 12 local representatives were members of The Courier-Times All-Area Football Team last fall.

New Castle will have three representatives in the contest: Niah Williamson (Wabash College) will play quarterback for the East and wear No. 10 in the game, Carter Brown (Franklin College) will be the placekicker and wear No. 8, and Tommy Witham (Franklin College) will play a tackle position on both offense and defense and wear No. 74.

Williamson was the C-T Area Co-Player of the Year for 2017, sharing the honor with junior teammate Luke Bumbalough.

Shenandoah also will have three players on the East representing that school: Joe Huff (Taylor University) will play at running back and cornerback and wear No. 21, Josh Myers (Wabash College) will play on the offensive line and at linebacker and wear No. 51, and Jordan Starks will play at wide receiver and free safety and wear No. 81.

Hagerstown also has three representatives in the contest: Owen Golliher (Marian University) will play defensive back or quarterback and wear No. 6, Cameron Purtha will play wide receiver and outside linebacker and wear No. 22, and Blake Blevins will play on the offensive and defensive lines and wear No. 55.

Golliher was the C-T Area Player of the Year as a junior during the 2016 season.

Tri will be represented by two players. Nick Wilson will play running back or wide receiver and wear No. 11, and Justin Greene will be a linebacker and wear No. 50.

Garrett Thomas is Knightstown’s lone representative in the game, will play guard on offense and inside linebacker on defense, and wear No. 65.

Eastern Hancock will be represented by wide receiver and defensive back A.J. Muegge (No. 1) and wide receiver and outside linebacker Luke Splater (No. 30).

Cambridge City Lincoln also is represented by two players: defensive back Caleb Craig (No. 3) and inside linebacker Chase Hokey (No. 54).

Class A state semifinalist Monroe Central has four players on the East squad: Ethan Demaree (No. 2), Casey Conatser (No. 13), Tucker Young (No. 70), and Nick Mitchell (No. 87). Class 5A power New Palestine has two players on the East: Joshua Glover (No. 5) and  J.T. Hoffman (24).

Franklin County’s Mitchell Orschell, one of the state’s top running backs in 2017, also will play for the East and wear No. 25, but he is listed as a defensive back for this game.

Lincoln Head Coach Phil Renforth is the coordinator for the East team. Head coach for the East is Triton Central’s Tim Able.

Over on the West side, Class 5A state runner-up Kokomo will have five players in the game: Antonio Jones (No. 2), Brody Smith (No. 28), Aion Jones (no. 33), Aeden Ligon (No. 72), and Kaijon East (No. 87).

Marion also has four players on the West squad: Darrell Brown (No. 7), kicker Sam Vermillion (No. 24), Mannual Davis (No. 59), and Zack Randolph (No. 70).

Marion’s Mark Hartman is both the West team coordinator and its head coach.

Tickets for Friday’s game can be purchased pre-sale for $8 from the participating players. Tickets at the gate Friday cost $10 each.
