New Castle's Jones is kicker for Cincinnati

Ryan Jones, a graduate of New Castle High School, is entering his junior year of eligibility on the University of Cincinnati football team and is a senior academically.

After red-shirting his freshman year, Jones, who wears No. 97 for the Bearcats, is the current starting kicker for Cincinnati and does the placekicking for field goals, extra points, and kickoffs. Jones also serves as the Bearcats’ back-up punter.

For those interested in following Ryan Jones this fall, here is the football schedule for the University of Cincinnati, starting with five games in September.

The Bearcats open with a game at UCLA Sept. 1, which is nationally televised by ESPN at 7 p.m. EDT. Cincinnati hosts Miami of Ohio at Paul Brown Stadium Sept. 8 that has an 8 p.m. start and is telecast on ESPN3.

The Bearcats host Alabama A&M  Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. (also on ESPN3), and have a home date with Ohio University Sept. 22 before going on the road to face Connecticut Sept. 29.

In October, Cincinnati hosts Tulane Oct. 6 before having its bye week. October games at Temple on the 20th and at SMU on the 27th follow.

The Bearcats end the regular season with four contests in November. Cincinnati hosts Navy Nov. 3 and South Florida Nov. 10, travels to Central Florida Nov. 17, and closes the season Friday, Nov. 23 with a home game against the Pirates from East Carolina.
