Cruise for the Chief is Sept. 29

By KATIE CLONTZ - kclontz@thecouriertimes.com

The first annual “Cruise for the Chief” event, in memory of former New Castle Police Chief Brad Catron, will take place Saturday, Sept. 29. All proceeds will go to the Brad Catron Memorial Fund.

The 60-mile cruise through Henry County will begin with registration at 11:30 a.m. in the parking lot of New Castle Motorsports Park, 5816 S. County County Road 125 W. The ride will begin at 1 p.m.

Catron passed away unexpectedly Dec. 18, 2017, leaving behind many memories and an amazing legacy, according to event organizer Ashtyn Nunn.

“Brad was loved and cherished by not just family and friends, but also members of the community,” Nunn said.

The price to participate for a single rider is $30. Two riders per bike costs $40. Prices include an event t-shirt for each rider, one raffle ticket per rider and food after the event. Shirts can be picked up during registration.

Event shirts can also be ordered by anyone who wants one, even if they aren’t participating in the ride. The price for shirt sizes small to X-Large are $15 while sizes 2XL through 5XL cost $17.

After leaving the New Castle Motorsports Park, the ride will continue past the New Castle High School Fieldhouse, a tree planted in Catron’s memory and the New Castle Police Department. The ride will then go on Ind. 3 to U.S. Hwy 36, Ind. 109 and U.S. Highway 40 before concluding at Open Arms Church in New Castle.

At the church, there will be food and a raffle. A raffle ticket and food will also be included for non-riders (with a T-shirt purchase) at the church.

Registration, shirt orders and money are due September 15. Cash and checks will be accepted. For more information, or to register, contact Nunn at anunn@emgsvcs.net or call 765-465-0403. People may also contact Teresa Kreps at 765-729-5410.
