After a delay of almost 30 minutes waiting for one team to arrive and a brief rainshower at the beginning of the event, the Blue River Valley High School girls golf team hosted a three-way meet with Muncie Central and Elwood Tuesday evening at Memorial Park Golf Course.

At the conclusion of the meet, Muncie Central had won with a score of 186, Blue River was second with 231, and Elwood third at 251.

The Bearcats and host Vikings were ready to go at the scheduled starting time of 4:30 p.m. and the Panthers rolled in about 4:50 p.m. The brief rainshower hit about five minutes later during introductions, and the rain was starting to cease as play got underway a couple minutes after 5 p.m. Sunny skies prevailed thereafter.

Only the front nine was played, and action started on hole No. 1 for the No. 1 and 2 golfers, hole No. 9 for the No. 3 golfers, Hole No. 8 for the No. 4 golfers, hole No. 7 for the No, 5 golfers, and hole No. 6 for those playing junior varsity.

Blue River was led by its No. 1 golfer, senior Lindsey Williams, who carded a 50. The Vikings' No. 3 and No. 4 golfers, sophomore Anna Hollingsworth and freshman Samantha Webb, respectively, shot 60 apiece, No. 2 golfer Nakayla Witham had 61, and No. 5 golfer Haley Tucker had a 70. Freshman Jessie Lanzer, playing JV, ended with 73.

Muncie Central's first-place finish was led by medalist Teddi Bishop with a 40. Also for the Bearcats, Tara Horst shot 46, Allison Polk 48,  Bronnenburg 49, and Maddie Evans and Sarah Hale 52 apiece.

No individual scores for Elwood were available.

Blue River played in another three-way meet Wednesday with Knightstown and host Eastern Hancock at Royal Hylands, and will play at the Elwood Invitational Saturday.
