Raymond LeRoy Ankrom

Raymond LeRoy Ankrom, 75, of Nashville Tennessee passed away on September 25th, 2018 at Alive Hospice of Nashville. Raymond was born in Manito Illinois on June 2nd, 1943 to the late Harriet Francis (Raffensbarger) Ankrom and Walter Jesse Ankrom.

Ray graduated from New Lisbon (Indiana) High School in 1961 and was always a free thinker as well as a big dreamer. He chased his dreams from Indiana to Oregon, New York and California before settling down in Nashville Tennessee for the last 30 years. He loved his family very much and always enjoyed spending time with any one of them or in a large group setting such as our annual Ankrom family reunion. He loved family traditions as well as all family heirlooms, of which he had several. He was a talented singer/songwriter and loved to play his trusted Martin guitar (Marty) and sing for anyone that would take the time to listen.

Raymond is survived by sisters Bonnie N. (Ankrom) Shay of Delavan IL, G. Marie (Ankrom) Scott of Connersville IN; brothers Maurice E. Ankrom of Asheville NC, John H. Ankrom of New Castle IN, Michael H. Ankrom of Milton IN, and Steven P. Ankrom of Greenville NC; many nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Raymond is preceded in death by all grand-parents; sister Sandra S. (Ankrom) Dale; sisters-in-law Alice Lorine (Pratt) Ankrom (John) and Thelma (Brenner) Ankrom (Maurice); brothers-in-law Roy J. Shay (Bonnie) and Jack M. Scott (Marie); nieces Diana L. (Ankrom) Lingenfelter, Carla (Mammen) Shay and Debbie D. (Dale) Cox; great-nieces Sherry Dale, Kelly Shay and Jamie VanDyke; great-nephews Jason D. Holliday and Dustin (Dusty) D. Dale.

Raymond will be missed dearly by all who knew him. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Alive Hospice of Nashville for the care of Raymond during his final days. The family would also like to thank Nashville Funeral and Cremation for the services that they provided. A memorial service for Raymond will be held at the New Lisbon Christian Church, in Indiana, on October 13th at 3:00 PM Eastern Time.
