Thelma Lucille McAllister

Thelma Lucille McAllister, 93, of Farmland, and more recently of New Castle, passed away on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 in her residence at Forest Ridge Senior Living.

She was born November 25, 1924 in Winchester, Indiana, the daughter of the late Alva and Blanche (Keyes) Weimer.

Thelma grew up on a farm in Randolph County. She married Jay C. McAllister in 1946 and they were married for 67 years before Jay’s passing in 2013. Thelma enjoyed flower gardening and was an accomplished photographer. She found great joy in photographing all of nature and especially the flowers that she grew. Thelma completed certification for her private pilot’s license and enjoyed flying. She worked for many years as an administrative assistant, as well as running the farm alongside her family. She was a member of the Farmland Congregational Christian Church and Rural Couple’s Club.

She is survived by one son, Allan (Jean Ann) McAllister of New Castle; six grandchildren, Ryan (Mary) McAllister of Elwood, Lori Rudisill of Muncie, Marc (Candy) McAllister of San Marcos, TX, Drew McAllister of Indianapolis, Michael (Ashlee) McAllister of Lillington, NC, and Jenny McAllister of Indianapolis; as well as a sister, June Kessen of California.

Thelma was preceded in death by her husband, Jay, in 2013; a son, Bryce D. McAllister in 2003; a brother, Wilbur Weimer, and a sister, Betty Thornburg.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Sproles Family Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Ingalls officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Maxville.

Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of service, Saturday at the funeral home.
