Brent Hendricks from South Carolina said Thursday’s first-ever Veterans Day Fun Day for local Marine Corps. veterans and recruits is planned to be an annual event to show supportfor veterans and encourage the community to do so as well. Here the group begins the three-mile run on a course that took participants from the high school to Indiana Avenue and back.

Patriotic colors waved, U.S. Marine Corps. veterans chanted military cadence in unison and were behind new recruits all the way– both literally and figuratively– as a first-ever Veterans Day fun run took off from the New Castle High School parking lot. Here the group gathered for a “team photo” just before the event, called a team-building exercisecoordinated by the local Marine Corps Recruiting Center. Even in chilly conditions, the men and women of varying ages lived up to the Marine motto “Semper Fi,” which is Latin for “Always Faithful.”
