The Shenandoah FFA is collecting donations to help with their annual Legacy Christmas Party.

Each year for about 40 years, Shenandoah students have partnered with local group homes to host parties and events for local community members with disabilities, said FFA adviser Tammie Gadberry.

This year, the FFA will host more than 200 registered guests and caregivers from 12-3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 9 in the Shenandoah High School cafeteria.

“The guests come and enjoy a bit of holiday fun with a meal, desserts, Christmas Music, and of course the big man himself, Santa!” Gadberry said.

Santa’s elves (aka, the Shenandoah FFA members) are providing the gifts Santa will give to all the party guests.

“Many of our FFA chapter members are in attendance as well to help deliver the gifts, have some fun, show some holiday spirit, and enjoy the company of our guests,” Gadberry said.

“This is a great activity of the folks involved and a great service opportunity for our students,” said Shenandoah High School Principal Gregory W. Allen.

The annual Shenandoah FFA Christmas party depends largely on community donations. Monetary contributions will help cover the cost of the meal, drinks, desserts and any additional Christmas gifts for the party guests.

The Shenandoah FFA chapter is also accepting gently-used Christmas decorations and tree donations.

Gadberry will accept donations for the FFA Christmas party until the day of the event.

The Shenandoah FFA students will also host their annual Legacy Prom for community members with disabilities April 20. More than 400 guests and FFA members attend that event, and community help is appreciated.
