Riley & Sons hosting New Castle toy drive

Through Dec. 12, all Riley & Sons locations, including the New Castle branch, 421 New York Ave., will be collecting items for Riley Children’s Hospital with the Riley Cheer Guild. Items collected will be delivered to Riley Hospital for Children Dec. 15.

Riley & Sons has also partnered with local businesses and organizations in each community to serve as additional drop off locations. In addition to the New York Avenue location, Heartland Christian School, 3340 W. County Road 100 S., New Castle, and Shelter Insurance Agent Rose Ann Turner, 2000 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle, will be available for toy drop-offs, as will 1000 Degree Pizza, 101 N. Walnut St., Mt. Summit.

There are more than 1,500 children a day being served at Riley Hospital for Children. The Riley Cheer Guild distributes between 9,000 and 14,000 items a month to the patients at Riley. These items are given as gifts for the patients and kids to keep. These toys can help pass the time or distract a child during a painful procedure. Games, art materials, books, movies and music can add opportunities for children to learn play and grow as they spend time in their hospital room.
