Fighting cancer for 36 years to strengthen treatment

Pictured from left are Laurie Davis, long-time supporter; Kenny Norfleet, creator of the fund and tournament; Beverly Matthews, president of the Henry County Community Foundation; Kyle Redding, with Tom Wood Outdoor Equipment, one of the event sponsors; and Steve Peckinpaugh, who along with his wife, Polly, have been long-time supporters in helping raise funds to fight cancer.

Fighting cancer and keeping innovative and effective treatment available locally has always been the number one goal for local Henry County retired Marine and businessman, Kenny Norfleet. Every year, Norfleet and friends sponsor and support an annual golf tournament to benefit the Norfleet Open Cancer Fund In Memory of Bill Shockley and Danny Justice Endowment Fund at the Henry County Community Foundation. Middletown resident Rex Slick served as this year’s celebrity putter.

Supporters and sponsors of the golf tournament have been providing funds for 36 years to benefit citizens in East Central Indiana to provide cancer services close to home. This year, team members stopped by the Foundation office to add $7,000 to build their fund and extend their reach to help others.
