Raider boys roll past Alexandria

C-T STAFF REPORT

MIDDLETOWN - The Shenandoah High School boys basketball team rolled to a 69-52 victory over previously undefeated Alexandria Saturday night in Von Jameson Gymnasium to improve to 3-0 for the season.

The visiting Tigers took an early lead before the Raiders came back to grab a 13-9 advantage at the end of the first quarter. The second period saw Shenandoah explode for 25 points with a very nice balanced scoring effort. Jake Kinsey led the way with seven points, Evan Coers had five, Andrew Bennett and Jackson Campbell four apiece, Kaden McCollough hit a three-pointer, and Peyton Starks added a bucket.

The defense was also good in the second quarter, holding Alexandria to just eight points.

For the game, Kinsey finished with a team-high 20 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field and 8-of-10 from the line. Starks (15) and Bennett (10) joined Kinsey in double digits. Campbell finished with eight, Coers and McCollough had seven apiece, and senior Nate Kimball finished up the scoring with two points.

Bennett also stuffed his stat line with a team-high seven rebounds, eight assists, and took two charges. McCollough, in his first action of the season, added six assists.

Shenandoah also won the junior varsity contest 45-26 to improve its record to 2-1 for the season.

The one-two punch of sophomore Kam Graddy and freshman Jasper Campbell proved too much for the young Tigers. Graddy, in his first action of the season, topped all scorers with 18 points while Campbell tossed in 13. The pair combined to go 11-of-14 from the free throw line as Graddy hit 8-of-10 and Campbell was 3-of-4.

Junior Colton Monday added seven points, sophomore Ryan Brewington four, and freshman Jordan Myers contributed three in the win.

The Raiders will host Tri Friday in the only girl/boy doubleheader on the schedule. The girls play at 6 p.m. in the high school gym with the boys to follow at 7:45 p.m. The two JV teams will play in the middle school gym, the girls at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.
