Girls Basketball

Union County 40, Hagerstown 31

The Tiger girls hosted the Patriots Wednesday night and fell to them by nine points to drop to 1-3 in the Tri-Eastern Conference and 2-7 for the season.

Hagerstown plays at Centerville Friday, Dec. 14 at 6 p.m. in the first game of a TEC girl/boy doubleheader.

New Castle 43,Connersville 31

The Trojans girls traveled southeast Tuesday night and defeated the host Spartans to even their record for the season at 5-5.

Cloie York led the New Castle with 16 points. Cameron Tabor had nine points and seven assists. Alyssa Semler had eight points, Macayla McGowan four, and Molly Alspaugh, Laila Smith, and Karsen Morgan two apiece.

The Trojan girls are back in action against visiting Shelbyville tonight for the first girl/boy doubleheader of the season on Silver Anniversary Night. The girls tip-off at 6 p.m., with the boys contest to follow.

The New Castle junior varsity girls also had a victory over Connersville. Scoring for the Trojans were Karsen Morgan with 16 points, Maddy Meek eight, Chloe Ayers with six, Ashlynn Clouse three, and Mackenzie Bridgeman one.

The Trojan JV girls played at Shelbyville Thursday evening.


Shenandoah 50, Madison-Grant 24

The Raider grapplers traveled to Fairmont Wednesday evening and defeated the host Argylls. Winners for Shenandoah included Jessie Owens (pin), Blake Alfrey (decision), Elijah Wuestefeld (pin), Dallas Pugsley (pin), Cole Hughes (pin), Hayden Lohrey (pin), Jake Webster (pin), and Silas Allred (technical fall). Conner White won an exhibition match.

The Raiders travel to Knightstown Saturday for the Henry County Meet as part of the Knightstown Invitational.

Trojans Face Eagles and Marauders

The New Castle High School wrestling team traveled to Royerton Wednesday evening to face both host Delta and Mt. Vernon (Fortville).

The Trojans lost to the host Eagles 69-10. Winners for New Castle were Tytus Ragle by a 10-1 major decision over Dalton Love at 152 pounds and Chase Vaughn by forfeit at 220 pounds.

New Castle fell to the Marauders 71-6. Winning for the Trojans were Traye Owens over Carson Johnson by a 2-0 decision at 120 pounds, and Tytus Ragle over Maxwell Hayes by a 7-6 decision at 152 pounds.

New Castle hosts another Invitational Saturday.
