Career center enrollment open for 2019-2020 school year

Courier-Times Staff Report

New Castle Career Center is now accepting applications for the 2019-2020 school year. Applications and more information about all 18 programs are available online at nccareercenter.org.

Applications are due March 11, 2019.

There will also be an Open House for prospective students and families from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29 at New Castle Career Center to meet students, teachers, staff, and administrators.

New Castle Career Center services eight local school corporations. The Career Center and school systems work together to provide skill development opportunities and career exploration for high school juniors and seniors.

Students attend their home high school for half of the day and are enrolled in a 3-hour/ 3-credit career program for the remainder of the day. Most classes are held at New Castle High School in the career programs wing.

Enrollment continues to grow with over 500 students now attending the 18 career programs available.

NCCC Assistant Director Mackenzie Jackson said the student experience at New Castle Career Center includes hands-on learning, real world projects, customer interaction, industry certification, licensure, dual college credits, and career preparation.

“Regardless of future plans, students will gain the experience to make informed career decisions,” Jackson said. “They will also develop the skills and knowledge needed to be successful.”

The New Castle Career Center is located at 801 Parkview Dr., New Castle. For more information, call 765-593-6680.
