Learn to 'Speak Dog' at library event Tuesday

Dogs can provide companionship and service, but dog owners often do not understand how to effectively communicate with their pets. Certified Dog Trainer Connie Swaim will present “Learn to Speak Dog” at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 15, in the auditorium at New Castle-Henry County Public Library.

Swaim co-authored the book “Idiot’s Guide: Puppies.”

“Our failure to fully understand each other is often the root cause of many behavior and annoyance issues,” Swaim said.

During Tuesday’s presentation, Swaim will help participants understand how to communicate with dogs and how to know what dogs are attempting to communicate. She will also share tips on how to improve relationships with “fur children.”

Kids who attend the event will receive a free dog bite prevention coloring book.

There is no cost to attend the event, presented by New Castle-Henry County Public Library, and registration is not necessary. For more information about events and services at New Castle-Henry County Public Library, visit www.nchcpl.org and follow the library on Facebook and Twitter.
