Charilyn Anne 'Charly' Curtis

Charilyn Anne “Charly” Curtis, 6, passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of her home early in the morning on February 7, 2019. She was born on October 14, 2012, in Muncie, to mother Heidi Curtis (Woodard) and father David Curtis.

Charly as diagnosed with isodicentric 15, shortly followed by a diagnosis for autism. Later she developed epilepsy and was recently diagnosed with Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. These differences in her DNA caused speech and developmental delays, hurdles that hardly slowed her down. She was quick to love and a friendly hi greeted everyone in her path. Charly attended therapy at the Applied Behavior Center in Richmond and in the later years at Behavior Associates of Indiana in Muncie. Numerous therapists and staff from both facilities as well as in home therapists worked daily to help Charly learn and grow into the loving and intelligent girl she was.

At home, Charly ran the house. She loved to take kitchen utensils, unload laundry, and believed if she could reach it, then it must be hers. She loved reading with anyone who would sit with her, with her favorite books being The ABC Book and Hop on Pop by Dr. Seuss. She also enjoyed singing lullabies with her family, specifically Baby Shark, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and Rock-a-Bye Baby.

Charly was preceded in death by grandmother Sheryl Woodard, great-grandparents Bruce and Joan Sumner, Margene and George Jones, Bernard Woodard, Russell Raines, and Christine Meredith.

She is survived by parents Heidi and David Curtis, siblings Zackery Curtis, Brigitte Curtis, Savannah Antrim, Patience Antrim, Brinklee Curtis, and Brayden Curtis, grandparents Cliff and Carrie Woodard, Trudi and Russell Meredith, and Jim and Jean Curtis, great-grandparents Lois Raines and Lois Richey, aunts and uncles Chris and Crystal Shea, Rusty and Heather Meredith, Clayton and Danielle Keck, Quinton Woodard and Elizabeth Jackson, Gina Woodard, Shay Haltom, Scott Woodard, and Jason Curtis, cousins Parker Meredith, Xavier Shea, Alexis Woodard, Damien Woodard, Jerakiah Keck, Cheyanne Keck, and Kyler Keck, and niece Silver Curtis.

Twinkle twinkle, now you’re my star.
