NC Swim Club performs at SE Divisional Meet

TRAFALGAR - The New Castle Swim Club took 13 swimmers ages 10-16 to the 2019 Indiana Swimming Southeastern Spring Divisional Championships last weekend held at Indian Creek High School in Trafalgar.

Luke Atterson finished 21st in the 500 Freestyle with a personal-best time. Connor Griffey finished 12th in the 200 Backstroke with a personal-best time, 55th place in the 50 Freestyle, and 10th in the 100 Backstroke.

Jackson Criswell was 26th in the 200 IM and 47th in the 100 Freestyle. Aidan Sipes placed 48th in the 50 Freestyle, 46th in the 100 Freestyle, ninth in the 100 Breaststroke with a personal-best time, and qualified in the 200 Breaststroke with a personal-best time. Andrew Turner finished 47th in the 50 Freestyle.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Turner, Andrew Lacey, Griffey, and Sipes finished 11th, and the 200 Medley Relay team of Griffey, Criswell, Sipes, and Lacey finished 10th.

Lylah Hutson had a magnificent swim in the 1650, finishing first and dropping 56 seconds, and qualifying for state in both the 1000 and 1650. She also placed third in the 500 Freestyle with a personal-best time, 29th in the 50 Freestyle, fourth in the 200 Freestyle with a personal-best time, 14th in the 100 Freestyle with a personal-best time, and 12th in 100 Breaststroke with a personal-best time.

Aaron Turner finished 13th in the 500 Freestyle, 41st in the 50 Freestyle, and 25th in the 200 Freestyle.

Jakob Dudley, our lone 10 & Under swimmer, had a spectacular weekend. He finished first in the 50 Butterfly, the 100 Backstroke, the 100 Free (making the State Cut), the 200 IM (making the state cut and dropping 10 seconds), and a second-place finish in the 50 Backstroke.

For the 11-12 age group from New Castle, Caitlin Sipes finished 16th in the 50 Freestyle, and Sydney Mathews finished 19th in the 50 Freestyle and 12th in the 100 Freestyle, both with personal-best times.

Olivia Owens finished sixth in the 500 Freestyle, dropping 16 seconds, 13th in the 50 Backstroke, 18th in the 50 Freestyle, 8th in the 200 Freestyle, and 13th in the 100 Backstroke, all personal bests.

Chloe Vitatoe placed first in the 100 Butterfly, a personal-best time qualifying for state, and first in the 200 Backstroke, ninth in the Open, fourth in the 50 Breaststroke, and fifth in the 100 Breaststroke, all personal-best times.

The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Owens, Sipes, Mathews, and Vitatoe placed third, and the same four girls placed second in the 200 Medley Relay.
