Prom dress giveaway Saturday

The Salvation Army of Henry County is having a prom dress giveaway from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, March 16. The event if for high school girls who live in Henry County. Each girl may only get one dress and she must be present to try on the dress. Most of the dresses have been gently used. A significant woman in the girl’s life is welcome to come with them. Men will not be allowed to the dress giveaway since the girls will be trying on clothing. For more information, contact the Salvation Army of Henry County at 529-1303.

Free food giveaway

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana will provide food for families in need at the monthly Second Harvest Tailgate Program, 9-11 a.m. today at the First Baptist Church, 709 S. Memorial Drive, in New Castle. The distribution is while supplies last, and there is a limit of three families per vehicle.

This tailgate is a collaborative effort between Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, the Henry County Community Foundation, and the Henry County United Fund.

Members sought for Wilbur Wright Birthplace group

HAGERSTOWN — The next Wilbur Wright Birthplace Preservation Society membership meeting is 6:30 p.m. Monday, March 25 at the Birthplace.

Also, there are many opportunities at the birthplace to volunteer and to help make it a more interesting place to visit. Siren maintenanceWednesday

The tornado siren at the Henry Township Trustee’s Office at 12th and Church Street will be disabled from 8 a.m. - 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 20 while maintenance is being done on the roof. Duke Energy will be disconnecting the power to the tornado siren for this work to be done.
