Food giveaway coming Thursday

Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana will provide food for families in need at the monthly Second Harvest Tailgate Program from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, April 18 at First Baptist Church, 709 S. Memorial Drive, New Castle. This is a change from the usual distribution on Friday, as Second Harvest is closed on the 19th. The distribution is while supplies last, and there is a limit of three  families per vehicle.

This tailgate is a collaborative effort between Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana, the Henry County Community Foundation, and the Henry County United Fund. Tailgates are not possible without the help of dedicated volunteers. Contact Second Harvest at 800-866-0882 and ask for Kellie Arrowood or email karrowood@curehunger.org to learn how you can help.

New Castle Walmart part of $96M improvements

Building on its commitment to save customers time and money in new ways, Walmart expects to spend an estimated $96,127,500 million this year in Indiana through the remodeling of 19 stores, including the New Castle location. The remodels will also coincide with the launch and continued expansion of several customer-focused innovations. “Hoosier customers have taken quickly to Online Grocery Pickup and to our Walmart Pickup Towers as these developments have begun to roll out across the state,” said regional vice president of operations Rodney Walker. “Walmart is committed to convenience, and we look forward to expanding these technologies and more in 2019.”
