With abnormally dry conditions persisting in and around Henry County, Commissioners passed an emergency order Wednesday prohibiting open burning.

“The fire chiefs throughout the county have requested that we do this because we have had really very little rain, really in the past month and a half or so,” Commissioners President Ed Tarantino said. “They’re afraid if there were fires, they would spread very quickly. Naturally if the weather changes and it starts raining, we would lift this.”
