New Castle Main Street is adding another event to their summer lineup: Food Truck Fridays.

A variety of food trucks will be at 1400 Plaza for a family-friendly food extravaganza, every first, second and third Friday of the month through the end of September. Every Friday will bring different trucks to the Plaza.

The first Food Truck Friday is May 7. Food trucks will be parked at New Castle’s 1400 Plaza from 5-8 p.m. that day, rain or shine.

Jo and Ky Scott from Ky’s Kreations helped organize and create this event.

“We are excited to open our restaurant, Ky’s American Bistro, on Broad Street next to Twin Lions,” said Jo. “We have been overwhelmed with the enthusiasm for our opening and wanted to do something to invite other food trucks to feel the warm welcome from our community.”

One of the food trucks scheduled to be there is community mainstay Big Poppa’s Pork Pit. Big Poppa’s Pork Pit offers “authentic BBQ at its finest.” They will be selling their signature dishes including Q-Bombs & Karb Killers.

Trucks will be at the parking area of the plaza closest to the stage. Parking is available on-site, and attendees are asked to wear masks and maintain social distancing when ordering. All are welcome to attend and support Food Truck Fridays.

Food Truck Fridays will compliment Fourth Fridays, which kick off May 28.

Help beautify downtown

New Castle Main Street is also collecting donations to help with the flower pots around downtown.

Donors can help bring spring to downtown New Castle while celebrating their moms at the same time. “Blooms on Broad Street” will see New Castle Main Street partner with Weiland’s Flowers to plant and maintain the flowers.

Each mom whose kids donated for her will receive a Mother’s Day Card highlighting the contribution to beautify downtown.

Visit https://newcastledown and scroll down to find the donation form. New Castle Main Street is a 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible.
