The Indiana Dept. of Transportation will temporarily close the entrance of New York Avenue at State Road 3 on Thursday.
According to INDOT Project Supervisor Andy Saunders, the road entrance will be fully reopened Monday morning.
The work will begin Thursday with excavation and sub-grade treatment. The patch will be poured Friday morning and allowed to cure over the weekend with the closure being removed Monday morning, April 12.
INDOT stated residents and businesses on New York Avenue will need to use adjacent streets to access the area.
“We will place road closed signage and barricades at the west end of New York and road closed signage at the east end,” Saunders said.
The temporary road closure is part of a larger concrete “patch and repair” effort from the intersection of SR 3 and SR 38 (Broad Street) to County Road 300N.
The intensive INDOT project will create local lane restrictions until the beginning of October.
Along with repairing the surface roads, the state highway department is also taking the opportunity to complete maintenance on the SR 3 bridge crossing Big Blue River.
