Alice J. Saunders

Alice J. Saunders, 69, a longtime Rush County area resident, passed away February 7, 2018 in Indianapolis. She was born November 5, 1948 in Marion to Leroy & Lucy (Goley) Atkinson. Alice spent her early life in Gas City and was a 1967 graduate of Mississinewa High School. She married Mick Saunders on June 8, 1969 and he survives.

Alice worked many years for the USDA/ASCS office in Shelbyville and also worked at the Rushville Courthouse in the traffic violations office. She was a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Rushville. She enjoyed watching movies & loved chocolate but Alice especially loved her family and was a devoted mother, wife, grandma/mamaw.

In addition to her husband, Mick, of Rush County, she is survived by her daughter, Amanda (Jimmy) Niedrach of Fishers, her son, Rob (Rhonda) Saunders of Charleston, SC, her grandchildren, Garrett Suanders, Levi Marlatt and Lauren & Luke Niedrach, a brother, Larry Atkinson of Greenwood and sisters, Linda Kay (George) Ailes and Carolyn Studebaker all of Gas City. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Laurie Jane Marlatt (2006) and a brother, Lewie Atkinson.

Services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, February 10, 2018 in Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Pastor’s John Wall & Mick Saunders presiding.

Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary prior to services Saturday after 10 AM.

Burial will be in the Lewisville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the RCCF-Laurie Saunders Marlatt Scholarship Fund, the Trinity United Presbyterian Church or the IU Simon Cancer Center.
