Mooreland Friends

Linda Cross adds peach filling to one of five peach cobblers she made Thursday in preparation for today’s and Saturday’s Mooreland Friends Annual Ham & Beans Supper. Sixteen peach cobblers were made for the meals, as well as plenty of the famed Mooreland Fair beans. Says Cross, ‘We always seem to have extra beans. We’ve never run out yet.’ This year’s dinner, a fundraiser for missions, is drive-through only. Pull up to the north side of the church at 101 N. Jefferson St. Hours are today, 4-7 p.m. and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (or they run out of food) Saturday. Also on the menu are cornbread, whole-hog sausage sandwiches, Coke products and water. Quarts of beans are also sold. The Friends Church has offered bean meals since 1977. The meals are staples at the Mooreland Free Fair each August.
