Richard Bouslog wants New Castle graduates past and future to celebrate their local pride with this year’s Homecoming celebration.

Every four years since 2005, Trojan Country runs green down Main Street to the New Castle Fieldhouse ahead of that afternoon’s big game.

Bouslog, the Homecoming chairman, is hosting an informational meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20 in the east cafeteria of New Castle High School.

He hopes to see people who are interested in being a part of the parade and grads who want to set up a space at the Gathering of Decades.

“It’s going to be big, and it’s also going to be an awesome weekend. This is a big event for New Castle,” he said.

New Castle Homecoming is Sept. 11.

The Homecoming parade starts at 10 a.m. The Homecoming game against Shelbyville’s Golden Bears kicks off at 1 p.m.; at the same time, the “Gathering of Decades” will take place on the Fieldhouse concourse.

The concourse will feature seven sections: 1940s, ’50s, ’60s, ’70s, ’80s, ’90s, and 2000-2020. Within those sections, classes will display memorabilia such as senior cords, letter jackets, yearbooks, buttons, photos, artwork, and other class items.

Gathering of Decades tables will also be a mini-reunion for classmates who maybe haven’t seen each other for years, Bouslog said. He is excited to see NCHS alum of all ages mingle with each other during Homecoming.

Gathering of Decades will run 1-4 p.m.

“Our goal is to get maximum participation,” he said. “I want this to be a successful Homecoming.”

Principal’s Luncheon

The Homecoming festivities will also include the traditional Principal’s Luncheon on Friday, Sept. 10 at First Baptist Church.

Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased at New Castle High School. The lunch will recognize distinguished alumni, the NCHS Homecoming King and Queen and Court, and retired educators. New Castle High School Choir will provide the entertainment.
