CHARLOTTESVILLE — The Blue River Valley High School girls track & field team traveled a bit southwest Thursday night to compete in the Eastern Hancock Invitational, and finished first among the six teams there.
Team scores, in order of finish, were Blue River Valley 119, Southwestern (Shelby) 107, Eastern Hancock 102, Herron 87, Hauser 21, and Wisdom Builders 20.
The Vikings had a solid team effort Thursday evening to win the Invitational, and Blue River’s Ally Madden was named Athlete of the Meet by earning 36 points by winning the high jump (5-0), shot put (29-9.75), and the 400m dash (1:03.96) and placing third in discus (94-4.5).
Viking freshman Sydney Fellers also earned two first place medals in the 1600m run (6:11) and 3200m run (13:18.64).
Also scoring for Blue River were Mallory Cross, who was second in the 100m hurdles (16.57 seconds), second in the 300m hurdles (52.55 seconds), and fifth in long jump.
Alexis Whitinger was second in the 1600m (6:16), third in the 800m (2:49), and fourth in the 4x400 relay. Samantha Loveless place third in the 200m dash (29.91 seconds) and fourth in long jump.
Emma Blackburn finished fourth in the 200m dash (29.99 seconds), fifth in the 100m dash, fourth in the 4x400 relay, and fifth in the 4x100 relay.
Emma Claar placed fifth in discus (PR of 82-0), fifth in shot put, and fifth in the 4x100 relay. Tori Fulton was fourth in the 300m hurdles, fifth in the 100m hurdles, and fifth in the 4x100 relay.
Also, Kelsey Porter and Angel Grasse were fourth in the 4x400 relay, and Maddie Denton placed fifth in the 4x100 relay.
The Vikings compete in the Henry County Meet Tuesday at Knightstown.
