The Blue River Valley High School girls basketball team will once again compete in the Union City Girls Basketball Holiday Tournament Dec. 29-30, and this year the tournament is both varsity and junior varsity.

The Vikings are the defending champions of this tournament, which was held before Christmas in 2020.

All varsity games will be played in the Main Gym at Union City High School. The schedule for those contests in the opening round on Wednesday, Dec. 29 is Union City vs. Purdue Polytechnic at 10 a.m.; Adams Central vs. Monroe Central at 11:30 a.m.; Blue River Valley vs. Indiana Math & Science at 1 p.m.; and Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian vs. Greenwood Christian at 2:30 p.m.

Junior varsity games follow at 4 p.m. with Union City taking on Purdue Polytechnic in the Main Gym and Blue River Valley facing Fort Wayne Blackhawk Christian on Haviza Court.

The losers of Wednesday’s varsity games will play at 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. that day in the Main Gym.

The Viking varsity will be heavily favored to defeat Indiana M&S, and if it does it would play the winner of the FW Blackhawk-Greenwood Christian game Thursday, Dec. 30 at 11:30 a.m. in Main Gym.

Later that day, the junior varsity championship game is at 4 p.m. in Main Gym, with the varsity championship at 7 p.m. in Main Gym.
