There’s plenty of baseball left to be played by local teams this summer.

New Castle Little League 12s and 11s All-Star Teams are playing in their state tournaments this week at Munster and Jasper, respectively, and the Hagerstown Little League 8-10s are playing this week in Indianapolis for their state tournament.

But that’s not all. The New Castle Babe Ruth League Baseball 15U and 13U All-Star teams also will be playing in their state tournaments at Tipton and Crown Point, respectively, this week, as well.

The Babe Ruth 15U State Tournament begins today in Tipton and games will be played at both Tipton High School and Tipton Park Field, and both venues are located near each other along Ind. 19 (Main St.) on the south side of Tipton.

New Castle is in Pool 1 along with Plainfield, Munster, and the District 2 runner-up. New Castle plays Munster 6 p.m. today at Park Field, and tangles with the District 2 runner-up 8 p.m. Thursday, also at Park Field.

New Castle is off on Friday, but faces Plainfield 10 a.m. Saturday at Tipton High School.

The top two teams from each pool (there are three pools of four teams apiece) will advance to the single-elimination tournament Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon. The two survivors will meet 4 p.m. Sunday at Tipton High School for the championship.

The champion moves on to the Ohio Valley Regional July 29-Aug. 1 in New Castle.

Players on the New Castle 15U All-Star Team are Tatum Abrams, Jacob Jenkins, Robert Fox, Landon Semler, Gavyn Whitehead, Brenndon Thompson, Anthony Sparks, Clayton Reno, Gavin Frazier, Cayden Whitehead, Tyler Brooks, Jacob Cole, Kye Golliher, Garren Mefford, and Drew Dock. The manager is Kelly Rector and coaches are Tyler Thompson, Alan Brooks, and Mike Ridenour.

The Babe Ruth 13U State Tournament begins Friday, July 23 in Crown Point. There are two pools and eight teams (four in each pool). New Castle is Pool South along with Noblesville, Jasper, and Crown Point 2. All times are Central Daylight Time, one hour behind the Eastern Daylight Time observed in New Castle.

New Castle plays Noblesville 8:30 p.m. Friday on Field 2. Saturday, New Castle plays on Field 1 against Jasper at 12:30 p.m. and against Crown Point 2 at 5:30 p.m.

The top two teams in each pool advance to Sunday’s single-elimination tournament. Two games are at noon with the championship game set for 3:30 p.m. All four of these teams will advance to the Ohio Valley Regional in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
