IHSAA Girls Basketball

Draw SundayThe 46th Annual IHSAA Girls Basketball State Tournament Pairings Show will air live on ihsaatv.org (no television) Sunday at 7 p.m.

Our six local high school girls basketball teams will feed into three different sectionals. New Castle will be in Class 3A Sectional 24 it hosts. Hagerstown, Knightstown, and defending champion Shenandoah will go to Class 2A Sectional 41 at Union County to start their tournament trail. Defending champion Blue River Valley will be in the same Class A Sectional 56 as host Tri.

The complete pairings will be listed on ihsaa.org following the show. The Courier-Times also plans to have a story about the pairings in Tuesday’s edition of the newspaper.

Trojan basketball on the airJohn Harp and Lorenzo Pettiford will provide the play-by-play and color commentary on radio station WMDH-AM, 1550 on the dial, for tonight’s New Castle at Yorktown HHC girls-boys basketball doubleheader.

Because of COVID-19 issues, the girls game will start at 5:30 p.m., the gym will be cleared of spectators afterward for 30 minutes of cleaning, and then fans holding tickets for the boys game will be admitted.

Given this, a pregame show will air at 5 p.m. prior to the girls game tipoff at 5:30 p.m. The broadcast of the boys game will follow sometime after the conclusion of the girls game, and a postgame show will wrap up the night’s broadcast.

Saturday night, Pettiford and Harp will be on the air again for the broadcast of the Wapahani at New Castle boys basketball game.

The pregame show will air at 7 p.m., followed by the broadcast of the game at 7:30 p.m. A postgame show will follow after the conclusion of the contest.

Jr. High/Middle School Girls Basketball

Tri 31, Eastern Hancock 16 (7th)The Titan 7th-grade girls hosted the Royals Wednesday evening and defeated them by 15 points to improve to 8-0 for the season.

Tri’s Olivia Parham led all scorers with nine points. Jillian Chew and Nakaya Cridge had eight points apiece, and Ava Houchins added six.
